Ovid's Tales Come to Life in Woodstock This Weekend
This weekend the Yoh Theatre Players at Woodstock Union High School, on Amsden Way in Woodstock, Vermont, will be performing Mary Zimmerman's "Metamorphoses" Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
(In 2002, Zimmerman won a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play)
Seating is limited to 50 (the audience will be sitting on stage with the actors) and can be purchased in advance at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/35190
The play mixes Ovid's ancient tales of human nature and consequences with contemporary language and humor all in and around a pool set in the middle of the stage.
Watch the tale of Alcyone and Ceyx unfold and the interference by Aphrodite, Iris and Sleep.
Witness the tragic tale of Orpheus and Eurydice.
See if Vertumnus can win the love of Pomona.
And see if Midas can free his daughter from her tragic golden form.
