Coon Club Game Supper Windsor VT September 21, 2013 Story and Photos by Nancy Nutile-McMenemy Saturday night was the night, The Coon Club was the place and the food and friends were the highlights. Chef Jim Theetge from Springfield VT is the Coon Club Head chef, he also works at Simon Pearce, and the food he prepared tonight was just delicious. From the roasted moose and venison  to the mixed Meat-Balls  to the baked trout. In additon to the yummy supper, there was a 50/50 raffle And a live auction If you are looking for a family friendly way to spend a Saturday night in late summer/early fall, mark you calendars for next year's supper. 11th Annual Pug Social Green Mountain Pug Rescue

11th Annual Pug Social Green   Mountain  Pug Rescue Sherburne Memorial Library Killington   VT   September 21, 2013 Story and Photos by Nancy Nutile-McMenemy The 11th Annual Pug Social was hosted by  Green Mountain PugRescue  on Saturday at the  Sherburne Memorial Library  in  Killington   VT.  About two hundred pug owners, lovers and adoptive parents were on hand for the event.  According to Judy Douglas, one of GMPR Board members, the event raises about $10,000.  Douglas  said "We have already found homes for 90 pugs in 2013 and our vet bills are exceeding $40,000." This event will help the organization to continue to find forever homes for these dogs. Reebok Spartan World Championships at Killington

Killington VT September 21, 2103 Story and Photos by Nancy Nutile-McMenemy This past weekend, Killington was the place to be for obstacle course racing, the Reebok Spartan Race World Championships were in town. Spartan Race™, the global leader in Obstacle Racing since 2005, was designed by seven insane ultra athletes and a Royal Marine. These races are not for the casual weekend athlete. This is one tough endurance event day. The obstacle course race is designed to test not only strength and stamina but also decision making skills. There are three races: Spartan Sprint - 3 miles with 15+ obstacles; the Super Spartan - 8+ miles with 20+ obstacles; the Spartan Beast -12+ miles with 25+ obstacles. These obstacles aren't just hurdles and walls but racing uphill carrying a 50 lb sand bag; swimming towards a rope ladder, climbing it and ringing a bell; running through a fire pit and many more physical and mental challenges.
