The Super bowl is in the books, did you have a favorite commercial? If the BIG GAME is over it must mean it's almost time for pitchers and catchers to report to Spring Training. Eyes will turn south and west for the boys of summer. Will Pablo "Panda" have lost weight and be ready to play. Oh the drama. Oh and Happy Valentine's Day. Here's to an early Spring.

Weathersfield select board news: The select board met on Monday, Jan. 30 to finalize the budget and sign the warning for Town Meeting which will be held at the Weathersfield School, 135 Schoolhouse Road in Ascutney on Saturday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m.. Australian ballot voting will be on Tuesday, March 7. More information about the select board and the town, contact Town Manager, Ed Morris, at 802-674-2626 or townmanager@weathersfield.org.

Weathersfield School news: Reminder-Winter Vacation is Feb. 20-24. Parent Teacher conferences are being scheduled on Friday, March 10 from 7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. A sign up sheet will go home on Friday, Feb. 17. For more information about this program, the school and events, call 802-674-5400.

Weathersfield Police Department report: Ascutney Fire Department responded for a report of a structure fire located at the Circle K gas station in Ascutney Feb. 1 at 2:30 a.m.. The business was closed for the night when the fire started. When the Fire Department arrived they found fire and heavy smoke coming from the west side of the structure. At this time it appear that the building was burglarized. The power, internet and cable lines were intentionally cut to the business at the utility pole. The front doors of the business were damaged where the person(s) entered the building. The business sustained substantial damage due to the fire. A second business, the Sunoco gas station located across the street also sustained damage to the phone, internet and cable lines, which appeared to have been intentionally cut as well, however no entry was gained into this business. The incident is under investigation. Any person with information is asked to call the Vermont State Police BCI Division, Vermont State Police Arson Investigation Unit or the Weathersfield Police Department.


Tuesday night, January 31 I got to see an up and coming singer/songwriter at Billsville House Concerts in Manchester, Vt. Lady Lamb performed to a sold out audience.

Weathersfield Food Shelf in Perkinsville every Thursday from 2-3 p.m. Route 106 at the old Perkinsville Elementary School.

Valley Court Diversion Programs: Volunteers are needed in Weathersfield/Springfield areas to work with low level offenders in the community. The group meets once a month at the Springfield Police Department, your commitment will require about three hours a month. Training is provided.
