Review: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney NSW Australia, 9 Feb 2017

February 9, 2017
Qudos Bank Arena
Sydney, Australia

After a quick, late lunch at Lord Nelson, we freshen up from our sweaty Taronga Zoo trip and head to Wynard Station. We catch the train to Olympic Park for night two of Bruce Sringsteen and the E Street Band at Qudos Bank Arena.

As we're walking from the train station to the arena, we hear music. Not like a radio station van music but MUSIC. We get closer to ANZ Stadium and hear thundering drums. What we're hearing is Guns N Roses running sound check for their two shows on Friday and Saturday nights. (We later found out that after sound check, they hit the arena to take in the E Street Band show as Bruce's guests.)

Thanks to a friend of a friend, we had E Street Lounge passes. In the past we've had passes from Little Steven's Renegade Nation Street Team/Underground Garage, a radio station, and Stevie's Music Foundation. It's backstage but low level backstage-no where near BRUCE. We were hoping, maybe, to see Stevie Van Zandt or Jake Clemons.

While we were waiting, in the mostly empty hall, a guy walks in and notices my Renegade Nation (Stevie's thing before the Underground Garage) t-shirt on Jay. Apparently he works with Stevie and is impressed by the shirt. We ask him about a possible summer tour (Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul) he says "it's complicated." Well, it wasn't a no.

Tonight were four rows up on Soozie Tyrell and Nils Lofgren's side of the stage.

Tuesday night looked packed but tonight more of the seats behind the stage were covered. One thing I noticed is that at these two Sydney shows, most people in the seats, sit. Usually a lot of people stand through the show even if they've purchased seats. They sit only during the slow songs. Oh well, I guess as long as they are enjoying the show, cool.

Really liked hearing "Adam Raised a Cain" "Rendezvous" and "Be True" Check my video HERE of Be True.

Also very cool-getting an acoustic "Thunder Road" to close the show.

Another great show.
Close to three hours.
Number 61 for me!
We're out in time to catch the train back to town. We meet some wicked nice young women who work for NBC and MSNBC. One is from Toronto and is a HUGE Bruce Fan.

We get off the train at Circular Quay and make a pit stop at the EZ Mart for ice cream and are back at our room and in bed by midnight.
"And these romantic dreams in my head. Cause we made a promise we swore we'd always remember. No retreat, baby, no surrender. "
