ICYMI (In case You Missed It)
Manager Tabatha Shahzad says for now they are open Wednesday-Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. They serve breakfast all day; so if you want French toast for a late lunch-you got it.
Shahzad said she wants to use as many local and "made from scratch" ingredients as she can. When I was visiting she was getting ready to make fresh corned beef hash. It smelled wonderful.
Then she opened the oven and revealed a few batches of homemade muffins.
Shahzad describes the menu as American café; Exit Ate offers "Build Your Own" crepes, sandwiches and omelets. They have homemade pies and hope to offer bread loaves for sale soon.
Gluten free items are available and she will try accommodate a variety of dietary needs.
They are open for dine in or take-away, call (802) 674-4299; as the weather warms up they will also have picnic tables outside.
Like most businesses they are actively looking for staff, especially for the soon to open Ice Cream Window (just two doors down from the main restaurant.
They are hoping to host a special Mother's Day Breakfast, maybe even bring back the buffet, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for details.
Villagers Ice Cream Restaurant Opens for the Season
On Friday, Villagers Ice Cream Restaurant opened for the season to the delight of many people. Even with the brisk wind and colder than normal temperatures, ice cream lovers came out to enjoy this frozen treat.
Villagers is located at 4261 Route 106 in Perkinsville, Downers Four Corners to the locals. They are open every day, except Monday, from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. but they stop cooking at 8 p.m..
You can even call in your order for pick up (802) 795-0063.
Their signature sundaes are very creative.
I tried the Samoa-it was delicious!

Billsville at The Coffee Bar
Bennington VT April 27, 2022
We were at The Coffee Bar again for another Billsville show on Wednesday. This time it was to see Lydia Loveless.
She's on the road promoting Daughter–her first album in four years that documents a period of personal upheaval, including a divorce and an interstate move away from her longtime home.
Left feeling unmoored and adrift, Loveless worked to redefine herself, both in her own mind and within the context of the world.
Written with her characteristic candidness and razor-sharp wit, Daughter is a self-aware journey into independence.

COVID Cases in Vermont
Vermont’s Covid hospital admissions double in 1 week
Erin Petenko reporting for VT Digger
The average daily number of new hospitalizations for Covid-19 in Vermont has nearly doubled in the past week, according to data from a state modeling report.
For the week ending April 25, Vermont averaged 11.7 new hospitalizations per day, compared to six the week before, according to the state Department of Financial Regulation.
The department’s report comes in lieu of the state’s weekly Covid press conference, which is typically held on Tuesdays. Gov. Phil Scott and other state officials did not address Covid at their press conference this week, which was held at a job fair in Essex Junction. The latest report, combined with daily data from the Vermont Department of Health, reveals a growing surge in both cases and hospitalizations from the BA.2 subvariant.

Seven of Vermont’s 14 counties now have “high” Covid-19 community levels, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Four others fell into the “medium” category, while the other three counties were “low,” the CDC reported.
The community rankings are based on three metrics: recent Covid case counts, new hospital admissions for Covid and the community’s overall hospital capacity. Cases have risen about 47% in the past two weeks, and hospital admissions have risen to about 12 per day from a low of about five per day, according to CDC data. The CDC did not release data on Vermont’s hospital capacity.
The CDC recommends that people in high-level counties take broad public actions to reduce transmission, such as wearing a mask in indoor public spaces. In medium-level counties, high-risk people should consider taking additional precautions.
