Hanging with Lyle Lovett and His Large Band-Or how I spent a summer weekend
I've been photographing for Lyle Lovett for many years now.

In addition to the Large Band, I've seen him with John Hiatt (I'll be seeing him in Rochester NH on Nov. 6-GET TICKETS!), Vince Gill, Shawn Colvin, Robert Earl Keen (he's at the Flying Monkey on Aug. 15-GET TICKETS!) and his Acoustic Group.
This past weekend he brought his Large Band to New England. He played Friday night at Look Park, Pines Theatre in Florence/Northampton, an outdoor seated and picnic blanket show.

The band played about 2.5 hours and hit all the favorites: "Cute as a Bug", "She's No lady" and "If I had a Boat". The setlist can be viewed HERE

Saturday night the band traveled north to Concord, NH, for a very close, if not SOLD OUT show. The audience was very energetic and excited to see the Large Band.

A highlight of the Large Band shows is Francine Reed's rendition of Ida Cox's "Wild Women Don't Have the Blues" she just kills it.

We had hoped to attend the Concerts on the Green in Shelburne VT on Sunday night but the close to 300 miles of driving and over 5 hours in the car Friday and Saturday had us done in.
Lyle and the Large Band are on tour until August 19 but the dates are all in the south. So if you wanted to see them, you'll have to wait until next summer.
We're hoping the Acoustic Group adds a New England date or two this fall but they are mostly playing the mid-west so far.
And we're always hoping for another tour with John Hiatt to get us through the long New England winter months.
