Adventures and Assignments

West Windsor hosted their 4th of July Parade last Thursday. It was a warm one but everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Sunday night we drove to Gilford, NH to the Bank of NH Pavilion, formerly Meadowbrook, to see Peter Frampton FINALE-The Farewell Tour 2019, his last tour. After 50+ years of touring Peter Frampton has announced that this tour will be his last. The Farewell Tour features support from Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening for the majority of the run. JBLZE opened on Sunday.

I first saw Frampton back in 1977 and really enjoying his guitar work so I wanted to see him in this last tour.

News you Can Use

Weathersfield select board and town news: The select board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, July 9-this meeting was rescheduled from the July 1 (first Monday) meeting. The town tax rate will be set for FY2020. The proposed rate for a Town-Homestead will be 2.2648. Quarterly payment dates will also be set. The board will decide what to do with the estimated $92,800 surplus from the FY2019 budget. Town manager Ed Morris is recommending allocating $12,800 to the Fire Motorized Equipment Reserve, $10,000 for the Highway Capital Maintenance Reserve and $70,000 in the Martin Memorial Hall Capital Reserve. Book Discussion in Ascutney, Wednesday, July 17 6:30-8 p.m. The library will host an evening with storyteller, children's author and musician Michael Caduto. 9th Annual Summer Evening with Friends and Neighbors in Weathersfield, Saturday, July 27 6 p.m. at the Center Meeting House on Weathersfield Center Road. Annual Frippery in Ascutney Aug 10 and 11. The Weathersfield Historical Society has announced their annual “Frippery” August 10 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and August 11 8 a.m.-noon. This year’s Frippery will be held at the Claire Murray House 5357 Rte 5 in Ascutney (rather than the Center Meeting House). Low cost spay/neuter clinics in Springfield. Springfield Humane Society is hosting low cost spay/neuter clinics in 2019: Aug. 13, Sept.24, Oct. 29, and Nov. 26 at the Springfield Humane Society, on Route 143. Cost is $50 for female cat and $40 for male cat. Weathersfield residents may be reimbursed up to $50 for the surgery with a limit of three pets per year. Get your SNAP form from the town office. The Rev. Dan Foster House, the museum of the Weathersfield Historical Society, is open for July and August on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2-5 pm and Friday mornings from 9 am-12 noon.  Admission is free and donations are welcome.
