Weathersfield select board and town news: The select board was scheduled to meet on Monday May 6. Their agenda included meeting with the outside auditors and their report submitted at the last board meeting. Bids were received for the Weathersfield Center Road repair. Pike Industries submitted the lowest bid ($398,932.55) and the town manager is recommending the contract goes to them. The town manager is also recommending that the remaining 0.85 miles of Reservoir Road be resurfaced. He will be submitting a finance plan to the board to pave both the Center and Reservoir roads at a cost of $483,932.55. Weathersfield School news: The Lace Up for Laura Memorial 5k walk/run Saturday, June 29 features two runs: an approximately ½ mile kids 12 and under fun run at 8:30 a.m. and 3.1 mile (5km) race at 9:00 a.m. for all ages and abilities. The starts for both races will be located near the intersection of the Plains and Reservoir Roads. Proceeds from the Memorial run will benefit the Laura Cody McNaughton Memorial fund and its annual scholarship which will be awarded to a graduating senior who exemplifies Laura’s leadership and giving spirit, and, is pursuing further education and training in a field where these principles may be put into practice. Weathersfield Proctor Library news: The library will be hosting a Heat Pump Workshop on Saturday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m., see the library’s heat pumps in action. Brent Coleman a heat pump installer from Chester, Vt. will be on hand to answer questions. Special Town Warrant-Town Voting-The informational meeting will be held on Monday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the Weathersfield School. Voting by Australian ballot for the two money articles to provide fire services to the town will be on Tuesday, May 21 at Martin Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Weathersfield Bow Hike in Weathersfield Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. The Weathersfield Historical Society will host a walk in Weathersfield Bow. Jeff Pelton, who has a background in geology, forestry, and history and who has led many hikes for the Weathersfield Historical Society and the Weathersfield Conservation Commission, will take walkers down the Class IV Old Springfield Road which originally ran from Weathersfield Bow to Bugbee Road in Springfield. The walk will be held rain or shine but not during thunderstorms. Dress for ticks and bring your water bottle with you. 1879 Perkinsville Schoolhouse Committee Seeks Volunteers. The 1879 Perkinsville Schoolhouse Committee needs willing hands to help with the ongoing task of renovating the 1879 Perkinsville District 1 school. Weathersfield Walking Program in Ascutney is offered Monday-Friday, 7:35-7:50 a.m. Weathersfield School teachers and staff walk outside with any student who wants to participate. If the weather is bad or the temperature is too cold, then students and staff walk in the gym. Exercise and enjoy the outdoors.

Low cost spay/neuter clinics in Springfield. Springfield Humane Society is hosting low cost spay/neuter clinics in 2019: May 28, June 18, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept.24, Oct. 29, and Nov. 26 at the Springfield Humane Society, on Route 143. Cost is $50 for female cat and $40 for male cat. Weathersfield residents may be reimbursed up to $50 for the surgery with a limit of three pets per year. Get your SNAP form from the town office.
