Happy Birthday Royal E. Houghton. On Saturday, March 11 friends and family gathered to wish Royal a very happy birthday, he turned 90 years young in February. Saturday was also his wedding anniversary. He and Marilyn have been married 62 years. Lots of champagne was popping on Saturday in Ascutney.
Go Cats Go-good luck to the University of Vermont Catamounts as they play the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday night in round 1 of March Madness..
Also Happy St. Patrick's Day-we'll all get to be Irish for a day: green beer, corned beef and cabbage and the hunt for the local leprechauns.
Remember when you change the clocks, change your smoke detector batteries.
This week's music adventures had me in Londonderry NH on Friday night and Plymouth NH on Saturday night.
Chuck Cannon opened for Shawn Mullins at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry NH, one of the last shows in this location. Tupelo is moving down the road to Derry NH.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes played The Flying Monkey in Plymouth NH on Saturday night. Vance Gilbert opened the show.

Weathersfield School news: Congratulations to Garrett Corliss, Grade 8, he qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee to be held on Friday, March 31. Weathersfield Proctor Library news: The library announced a video production class for April 17-19 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The class will be hosted by SAPA-TV. Ages 10 and up interested in making videos are invited, contact the library to reserve your space. The Fundraising Committee announced Saturday, April 8 as the date for the 6th Annual Town Challenge. Time to get your team together. The 7th Annual Summer Evening with Friends and Neighbors will be held in July and the Annual Book, Bake and Yard sale will be held in September. Weathersfield Historical Society news: The Historical Society's Frippery 2017 will be held on Aug. 5. They are asking folks to set aside items for the sale. There is a pick-up service and some storage is available. Spring is a good time to clean out that cabinet, attic or garage. Springfield Humane Society is hosting low cost spay/neuter clinics: April 11, May 9, June 6, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 5, Oct. 24, Dec. 5 at the Springfield Humane Society, on Route 143. Cost is $50 for female cat and $40 for male cat. Weathersfield residents may be reimbursed up to $50 for the surgery with a limit of three pets per year. Get your SNAP form from the town office. Valley Court Diversion Programs: Volunteers are needed in Weathersfield/Springfield areas to work with low level offenders in the community. The group meets once a month at the Springfield Police Department, your commitment will require about three hours a month. Training is provided.
