CATS Musical at Woodstock Town Hall Theatre is produced by Pentangle Arts in Collaboration with ArtisTree Community Arts Center. The theatrical performance that has wowed audiences for years on Broadway has come to Woodstock, Vt-CATS opened Friday April 29, 2016. The close to sold-out show had the crowd singing praises of the singing and dancing. Most of the performers are locals but you wouldn't know it with the lavish make-up and costumes that transformed our friends and neighbors into Jellicle Cats.
Cats is a musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. The musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as "the Jellicle choice" and decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. Cats introduced the song "Memory". The first performance of "Cats" was in 1981.
There are three performances left-Friday, May 6, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 7, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and a Mother's Day Matinée May 8, 2 p.m. Pentangle is offering a Special Brunch and CATS Matinée Show PACKAGE that includes The Prince and The Pauper Mother’s Day Brunch with seatings begin at 11 a.m. with the last seating is 12:15 p.m., then off to the 2 p.m. matinée performance.
