June 1, 2014

Daniel L. Cady came to life in West Windsor on Sunday afternoon. Local historian and living history portray-er, Adam Boyce read from some of Cady's poems.

Daniel L. Cady, a locally-raised scholar, attorney and poet was once known far and wide for his "sentimental dialect verse" of life in rural Vermont. Cady published a four book series entitled "Rhymes of Vermont Rural Life" that were released between 1919 and 1934 and caused him to be named "The Unique Poet" of New England.
Audience member were asked to share some of their favorite Cady poems and anecdotes from the collection of Cady books (all available at Mary L. Blood Memorial Library.) A light picnic followed then folks hiked up to the Cady Mausoleum.
