Live Music-The Best Way to Spend the Last Weekend of Summer
Photos of The Ballroom Thieves and Shawn Mullins
With the last weekend of summer upon us, we decided to hit a couple of live music events.
Our first venture was to one of our favorite Vermont venues-Billsville House Concerts in Manchester. Doug and Caroline open their house up to 75 music lovers with a full stage and pro-sound and lights. We've never seen a bad show there and Friday night was no different.
The Ballroom Thieves performed for the SOLD OUT crowd. Calin “Callie” Peters (vocals, cello), Martin Earley (guitar, vocals), and Devin Mauch (percussion, vocals) have three CDs out: A Wolf in the Doorway, Deadeye and the 2018 release Paper Crown (an EP).
I took photos and shot a few videos of their performance.
Their songwriting is enchanting and their vocal harmonies are spot on. They are extremely talented and if you love good music-you should make time to catch them in the future before they explode to bigger venues.
Next up at Billsville:
Grant Farm with Surplus Daughters Sept. 27
On Saturday we drove to Newburyport MA to the Newburyport Brewing Co. to see Shawn Mullins.
Mullins is on tour promoting the release of "Soul's Core Revival."
He's best known for the 1988 single "Lullaby", which hit number one on the Adult Top 40 and was nominated for a Grammy Award. It was on the original Soul's Core album.
A lot of people came to the NBPT Brew to hear Shawn and enjoy some really great craft beer.
As the sun went down, the crowd called for more songs and Mullins graciously played a couple more. He hung around after the show and signed autographs and took cell phone photos with folks.
Performance photos and a few video clips.
He'll be back in our area Oct. 26 at Infinity Hall in Hartford CT, Oct 27 at Tupelo Music Hall in Derry NH and Nov. 2 at Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, ME.
Before we hit the road we grabbed a four-pack of NBPT Brew Stout!
It's really GOOD!!
Until next time-see you at a show!
