If you celebrate Christmas, your shopping days are numbered. Tick-tock people. Best wishes to you and your family during this winter holiday season. There are so many ways to celebrate with family and friends. I hope whichever way you chose to celebrate you have a wonderful time. For me, the Winter Solstice is my holiday. It means days will be getting longer and there will be an end to winter, eventually. Oh look, the seed catalogs are arriving in the mailbox.

News You Can Use

Weathersfield School news: Congratulations to the Weathersfield School’s Top 8 National Geographic Bee’s finalists: eighth graders Zed McNaughton, Brody Perham, and Skylar Thibodeau; seventh graders Dory Hindinger, Olivia Magliola, Tori McNamara, and Ryan Page; and sixth grader Brooke Hindinger. These students competed in a school-wide Geography Bee on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The two finalists, Dory Hindinger and Zed McNaughton competed in the championship round until the winner was determined. Zed McNaughton, an eighth grade student, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee. He will advance to the next level of the competition, an online qualifying test to determine eligibility as a state competitor. The state competition will be held on Friday, March 29. Weathersfield Proctor Library news: The library will be hosting Disney’s “Frozen” on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m.. be sure to check out the Kids page on the library website to stay up with on top of all the events. Free New Year’s Eve Celebration for Kids and Families in Windsor Monday, Dec. 31 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. The Ascutney Mountain Promise Community will host a New Year’s Eve celebration for kids and their families at the new Promise Room in the Windsor Connection Resource Center at 1 Railroad Avenue. Programs include arts and crafts, games, music, storytelling, juggling, as well as scheduled programs including Kid Yoga with Tara (10 a.m.); Face painting by Mona (11 a.m.-noon); a show by Steve Blunt, kids musician (12:30 p.m.); and a performance by Crabgrass Puppet Theater (2 p.m.).
