Martin Memorial Hall, Ascutney, Vt.

For the 11th year in a row the Weathersfield Veterans Memorial Committee will host their Chicken BBQ. At Martin Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 30.

Retired Colonel Chip Cobb, is the chair of the Weathersfield Memorial Committee. Chip served several tours in the U.S. and overseas from 1970-1997 and retired in 1999.  He's been a force to get the town's veterans recognized and memorialized. He's very busy and very dedicated. But he says the real force behind the group is Lisa Slade.

Lisa volunteers on the committee to honor her father who served. Lisa says the money raised at the BBQ is used to update the roll of honor panels, maintain the Veterans Memorial Monument and goes to supports other charities that help veterans.

The Veterans Memorial Monument is located on the Perkinsville Green and was dedicated on November 11, 2010.

The Chicken BBQ begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 and goes until they run out of chicken dinners (get there early--they always sell out!) For $10 you'll get a 1/2 chicken (with their secret sauce!) beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert and beverage. Eat there or take home.
