21st Annual Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultra Run-A Huge Success

The 21st Annual Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultra Run was held on Sunday. Over 1400 mountain bikers, 50 mile ultra runners, 50 mile relay runners and 50 K runners spent a gorgeous fall Sunday riding and running back roads and trail in and around West Windsor and Hartland. The trails cross 70 privately owned properties and many trail maintained by Ascutney Trails. The summer-like weather added to the overall success of the race.


Mike Barton, White River Junction, won the race for the second year in a row with a time of 3:58:46. Woodstock's own Kirk Kardashian crossed the finish line with a time of 4:18:03. The first woman to cross was Tina Severson from Colchester CT with a time of 5:06:38. 50 miler runners came in with times of 7:15:08 by Kevin Tilton from North Conway NH and 7:52:12 by Sarah Keyes from Saranac Lake NY. Brad Arch from Woodstock crossed the finish first for the 50 K runners with a time of 3:51:12 and Kate Pallardy from New York City posted a time of 4:29:46.

On Saturday the race organizers hosted a free Kids Fun Trail Run with children running 1/2 mile, 1 mile, or 3 Miles (5K). For the little children, a Hay Bale treasure Hunt was set up for them.
