Weathersfield select board news: The board is accepting paving bids for Reservoir Road. Information on the bid process can be found on the town website or by calling the town manager. The select board had two meetings schedule this week. One was their regular meeting and one was with the fire commission and the fire departments. Weathersfield Proctor Library news: The Friend's annual book, pie and yard sale was a huge success despite the rainy weather last Saturday. For more information about the library, the Friends of Weathersfield Proctor Library or other questions call 802-674-2863.

Weathersfield School news: There is no school on Oct. 9, it is an in-service day for teachers The school board will have their next meeting on Monday, Oct. 16 6:30 p.m. in the AP Room. And congratulations to Brianna Barton, Grade 5, she participated in the Elks Soccer Shootout. For the second year in a row, she won first place for the 10U girls. Thursday, I spent the evening at the sold out, standing room only show-Stephen Stills and Judy Collins at the Lebanon Opera House.

Friday night, I hit the Orpheum Theatre in Boston Ma to see Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul perform.


 Peter Wolf, the former lead singer of the J. Geils Band made a guest appearance.

Get Out and About Events
Car Show in Ascutney Saturday Oct. 7 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The school PTA and 8th grade class will host their annual Car Show (rain date will be Oct. 8). A benefit for the PTA and 8th grade class trip. All vehicles of interest are welcome. Admission is by donation. Music, 50-50 Raffle, Food, and Refreshments. Awards and Door Prizes will be given out. 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat in Perkinsville, Saturday Oct. 28 4-6 p.m. Safe Trick or Treat fun for all ages, decorate your car, promote your organization, group, business, church, school. For more info. call 802-674-2863.

Weathersfield Hikes: The final hike is Ascutney Mountain Saturday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m..

Weathersfield Food Shelf in Perkinsville every Thursday from 2-3 p.m. Route 106 at the old Perkinsville Elementary School.

Low cost spay/neuter clinics in Springfield. Springfield Humane Society is hosting low cost spay/neuter clinics: Oct. 24, Dec. 5 at the Springfield Humane Society, on Route 143. Cost is $50 for female cat and $40 for male cat. Weathersfield residents may be reimbursed up to $50 for the surgery with a limit of three pets per year. Get your SNAP form from the town office. Please call Springfield Humane Society for an appointment at 802-885-3997.

Valley Court Diversion Programs: Volunteers are needed in Weathersfield/Springfield areas to work with low level offenders in the community. The group meets once a month at the Springfield Police Department, your commitment will require about three hours a month. Training is provided.
