Weathersfield, VT

Well another Vermont 100 Endurance Run or Ride is in the books and I survived. Mind you I didn't run or ride. I just volunteered. And I have the swollen feet and sore back to prove it. But it's worth it because all the money raised goes to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, a program I've been involved with since 1988. They taught me how to ski at Mount Ascutney and how to teach mono-skiing. I was a mono-ski instructor for 10 years. I just do events now. And with the 100 in the books, my calendar is flipping to September for the 25th Annual Vermont 50 Mountain Bike or Ultra-run on Sunday the 24th at Ascutney. But before that, I have to take these sore feet and back into my garden and start clipping tomato suckers. Holy cow have they taken over. You take a few days off to volunteer at an event and the tomato suckers pop out.

Last Wednesday I went back to the Rusty Berrings Skatepark in Lebanon NH to check on the progress of Phase 2. There was some serious concrete being pouring and sprayed.

Some of my photos made it into a video about the work day.

As I said above, I spent the weekend volunteering at the 29th Annual Vermont 100 Endurance Race. All day Friday for Race Check-in; up at 3 a.m. for race day on Saturday; home at 8 p.m. Saturday night and back at Silver Hill Meadow for Sunday chicken BBQ and awards. The race starts at 4 a.m. on Saturday and 100 mile runners have to be across the finish line before 10 a.m. on Sunday.

This year there was an Athlete's With Disabilities (AWD) Division. Kyle Robidoux from Boston, MA ran 100 miles with guides and finished the race 226/265 with a time of 28:11:53!

This year one of the runners, John Geesler from St. Johnsbury Vt crossed the finish line for the 25th time. He came in 194/265 with at time of 27:12:26. That's 2500 miles people!!! Race Director Amy Rusiecki has a special award made up for him.
