Their food shelf is critically low and has run out completely several times this winter. If you live in the Upper Valley PLEASE, drop off food and items from their Food Wish List, TODAY!

We want their shelves to look like this!!!

 

The Food Shelf provides a week’s supply of healthy groceries once a month (including meat, dairy and produce), and unlimited access to bread and produce to anyone in need. We offer a Healthy Eating Program which addresses food shelf visitors’ needs for inexpensive and healthy eating options. It is designed to serve everyone who comes through the doors of the Haven. The program consists of developing healthy and budget-conscious recipes, on-site food preparation using ingredients found at the Food Shelf, and food sampling for clients with hand-outs of the corresponding recipes.

Most of the items in the Haven’s Food Shelf are purchased through the Vermont Food Bank, at the average price of $0.18 per pound. We also receive generous donations of food from individuals, businesses, churches, and civic groups throughout the year. Food drives are always welcome. Visit our Food Shelf Wish List for a list of food items we currently need.

Perishable items are welcome:
Eggs, cheese, quarts of milk, butter, yogurt, beef, chicken, pork, fish, etc.

Pasta of all kinds Canned vegetables (beets, carrots, mixed, asparagus)
Dry or evaporated milk
Tuna or sardines

Canned Whole Tomatoes
Tomato paste/diced or stewed
Macaroni & Cheese
Red kidney beans
Black beans
Chick peas
Dried beans, lentils, peas
Sliced bread
Chicken, beef or vegetable broth
Baked Beans
Canned Fruit
