Grace Potter and the Nocturnals-Lebanon Opera House

Breaking News---Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Return to Lebanon Opera House!!

to Benefit Child and Family Services of New Hampshire

May 29, 2010 7:30 PM

From the Lebanon Opera House website:

back by popular demand…

An internet sensation with local roots, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals delivers an organic brand of neo-classic rock like no other. Winner of Jammy and Boston Music Awards, the band no sooner launched its debut CD, when it landed in the center of popular culture opening for the likes of Dave Matthews, The Black Crowes and Gov’t Mule and quickly became the go-to band for television theme songs and soundtracks (Brothers & Sisters and Grey’s Anatomy to name a few). With a new album set to be released this June, this New Hampshire appearance will serve as both a preview and a pre-launch party. A GPN event is all about raw passion and a reverence for rock!

“This is an amazing band! Keep your eyes on this one.” --Taj Mahal

“One of the most soulful new bands around.” --Bonnie Raitt

Discography includes: I Want Something that I Want, Apologies, Original Soul, Ah Mary, Nothing but the Water, This is Somewhere

John Hiatt and the Combo ROCK Leb-nan!!

John Hiatt and the Combo rolled into Lebanon NH and rocked the Opera House Tuesday evening March 9. Hiatt and band are out on the road promoting their new CD "The Open Road." The tour opened last week in Albany and has made its way around the northeast, landing thankfully at the Lebanon Opera House.
Hiatt opened the show joking with the crowd that he was glad to be back in "Leba-non" not "Leb-a-non". He wanted to pronounce it correctly because he knows "how sensitive folks can be." Then he joked that folks back home have reduced the name to just two syllables-"leb-nan"
Hiatt was accompanied by Doug Lancio on all things with strings,

Patrick O'Hearn on various bass instruments and

Mega-New Orleans Saints fan and awesome drummer, Ken Blevins.

They played a few songs from their new CD during the 2 hour plus show but mostly is was a very welcomed greatest hits performance. Some folks in the audience may not have heard Hiatt before but most have heard recordings of his songs as many artists have chosen to record them. Favorites included: "Tiki Bar", "Cry Love" with a phenomenal solo on mandolin by Lancio, "Crossing Muddy Water", "Slow Turning" that got the crowd up dancing, and two encores, first an unbelievable version of "Riding with the King" again with Lancio shredding on his solos.
And closing the night with Hiatt's "Have a Little Faith in Me", which has appeared, according to Wikipedia, in the "1993 romantic comedy Benny & Joon and has been covered separately by Michael English, Joe Cocker, Delbert McClinton, Chaka Kahn, Mandy Moore, Patty Larkin, Bill Frisell, Jo-El Sonnier, Ilse DeLange and Jewel for the 1996 film soundtrack Phenomenon. It is also featured on the soundtrack of the movie Love Happens."
2 Hours wasn't long enough explore his 17 album catalog but I guess it will have to do!!Holly Williams, granddaughter of Hank Williams, opened for Hiatt and the Combo.More photos can be viewed at:
