Weathersfield Weekly Blog, May 9

More signs of spring are popping up everywhere. The Daffodils and Grape Hyacinth are up. The Hepatica (liverwort), trout lilies and marsh marigolds are in bloom or are budding. I can hear the red-winged blackbirds; the Phoebes are searching for nest sites and our hummingbirds are back. The hummingbirds arrived last Wednesday and I had the feeders out after their first fly-by. Yard work is progressing and we're expecting our load of composted cow manure any day now. I've move my vegetable garden seedlings into the garage (finally) because they have outgrown their grow-lights. I'll keep an eye on the overnight garage temperatures for the next few weeks before planting in the garden around Memorial Day; gradually, I'll introduce them to full sunlight, slowly getting them used to the UV rays and wind. Oh and the black-fly are BACK.
