Milk Truck Lands In West Windsor Ditch

Lauston Stephens was heading south on Westgate RD in West Windsor on Thursday morning when he was he encountered a Cota and Cota Oil truck heading north. To avoid clipping the truck, Stephens turned into the ditch and got stuck in the mud.

Roy Seymour from Earles Truck Repair in Rutland was called to pull the truck out. West Windsor volunteer Fire Fighter, David Jaacks responded to the emergency call. The road was closed for about one hour. The truck's diesel tank remained intact and appeared solid upon inspection.

No injuries were reported and when Stephens checked his cargo he said everything looked ready for delivery.

Neighbors are speculating that Westgate Road is being used to avoid going all the way around Ascutney Mountain while the bridge on Rte 44 west of Brownsville is closed for repairs. Westgate is a narrow dirt road but driving around the mountain can add up 45 minutes your trip to the east side of Rte 44.
