Celia Woodsmith Heads to the Grammy's!

Celia Woodsmith grew up in Norwich Vermont, attended Hanover High School then moved on to the University of Vermont where she met a future band mate/collaborator Avi Salloway and began playing guitar.

Avi and Celia played around the country for a few years and I have my friend Dave to THANK for getting me hooked on these talented musicians.

Eventually the band morphed into Hey Mama, a blues-rock quartet that toured throughout the US and Canada performing over 500 gigs. The band also included Paul Chase on bass and Jared Seabrook on drums.

Hey Mama played their FINAL GIG January 21, 2011 at The Stone Church in Newmarket NH.


The band reunited for one final time at the Quechee Balloon Festival June 17, 2011



After this, Avi Salloway went on to form Billy Wylder

While Celia moved on to Della Mae. Now Celia is up for a Grammy!!
Della Mae’s label, Rounder Records, submitted their most recent album, This World Oft Can Be, for consideration in three Grammy categories back in the summer.Celia co-wrote eight of the album’s 12 songs. The album will have some pretty tough competition: The Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, James King and the Del McCoury Band for the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy on Sunday.

Celia will be in Los Angeles with her Mom Sybil Smith for the Grammy telecast. We wish her the BEST!!
